Alex  Coomes

Having grown up, lived in and been connected to Claygate for over 40 years I am standing for election to help ensure Claygate’s unique atmosphere is nurtured fr future generations as it has been for today’s residents.  I am very interested in preserving our green spaces that we are privileged to have in the village; they help to make Claygate what it is.  If elected I will use my local knowledge and business skill to ensure local residents get the best possible value for their allocated funds to the Parish Council. I will do my utmost to communicate what is being done on resident’s behalf within Claygate and ensure it continues to be a place we all enjoy living in.  The village is constantly changing over time but the right choices have to be made to preserve what is great about the village and make positive improvements where possible.  In my spare time away from work I am an active allotmentholder and also a member of the Claygate Garden Society.  When not growing vegetables I spend my time with family and friends either fishing or walking my dogs locally and around Claygate.

Kate  Hallett

I have been actively involved in the community and the Claygate Village Association since 1998. I am currently secretary of the CVA  and a trustee of the Village Hall Association. I was part of the original team that secured the Parish Council for Claygate and I remain a great believer in the benefits it can bring to ensure Claygate remains a vibrant village community.

I have worked with the CVA on many community projects such as the millenium celebrations, the Jazz On The Rec, the Christmas Lights and the 2010 Get Involved Day. I am part of the current CAMP steering group, continuing to fight the threat from metered parking on the economic viability of our village shops.

I am a chartered civil engineer with experience in highways, traffic and local government. I am delighted to be part of both the Highways and Traffic Committee and the Environmnet Committee.

My family have lived in Claygate since I was a young child and I had the pleasure to grow up in this friendly, safe Village. Hopefully my love of Claygate and my professional skills mean I can continue to make a significant contribution to the village as part of the Parish Council. I love being part of this village and I am always delighted at the community spirit we have.
